What is image to PDF conversion?

Converting images to PDF puts one or more pictures into a single PDF file, one image per page. It is the easy way to send photos of documents, scanned receipts or a set of screenshots as one file that opens the same way on any device.

Tool description

This tool turns JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF, BMP and AVIF images into one PDF. Add your images, drag them into the order you want, turn any that are sideways, pick a page size and a margin, then download the PDF. Everything happens in your browser, so your images are never uploaded.

Features

  • Drag the thumbnails to set the page order, and remove or rotate single images
  • Pages the same size as each image, or A4 or US Letter pages
  • No margin, a small 10 mm margin or a large 25 mm margin
  • JPG photos go into the PDF without recompression, so they keep their full quality
  • Phone photos come out the right way up, using the orientation saved in the photo

How it works

With Same as image, each page is the size of its image at 96 DPI, which is the size it has in a browser at 100% zoom. With A4 or US Letter, each image is scaled to fit inside the margins and centered on the page. Auto orientation gives landscape images a landscape page and all other images a portrait page.

JPG files are copied into the PDF byte for byte, and PNG files keep their transparency. WebP, GIF, BMP and AVIF images are converted first: to PNG when they have transparent parts, otherwise to a high quality JPG. An animated GIF becomes its first frame.

Tips

  • For photos of paper documents, A4 or US Letter with a small margin gives a PDF that prints well.
  • Large photos make a large PDF, since JPG files keep their full size. Run the result through the PDF Compressor if you need a smaller file.
