What is a spin wheel used for?

A spin wheel is a randomization tool that visually represents a set of choices as segments on a circle. Spinning the wheel and letting it land on a random segment provides a fair, transparent, and engaging way to make a random selection — far more visual and satisfying than simply picking a name out of a hat or generating a random number.

Spin wheels are commonly used for giveaways, classroom activities, team decisions, raffles, and any situation where you want to pick one option from a list in a way that feels genuinely random and fun to watch.

Tool description

Spin Wheel Generator creates a customizable spin wheel from a list of items you provide. Add as many options as you like, adjust the spin duration, and click spin to have the wheel randomly land on a winner with a smooth animated spin. A fullscreen mode makes it easy to display the wheel to an audience, such as during a livestream or in-person event.

Features

  • Custom item list — add, remove, and edit wheel segments freely, each rendered in a distinct color
  • Adjustable spin duration — control how long the animation runs, from quick spins to longer suspenseful ones
  • Fullscreen display mode — expand the wheel to fill the screen for presentations and audiences

Options explained

Option Description
Wheel items The list of labels shown as segments on the wheel. At least 2 items are needed to spin.
Spin duration How many seconds the spin animation takes to land on the winner.
Fullscreen Expands the wheel to fill the entire screen, hiding the surrounding page.

Tips

  • The winning segment is chosen randomly before the animation starts, then the wheel is rotated to land precisely on it — so the spin duration only affects the animation, not the fairness of the result.
  • Long item labels are automatically truncated on the wheel to keep the segments readable; the full text is still shown in the winner field.
