What is random selection?

Random selection is the process of choosing one item from a set without any predictable pattern or bias. Humans are notoriously poor at making truly random choices — we tend to favor certain options due to habit, anchoring, or unconscious preferences. Using a random selector removes that bias entirely, giving every option an equal probability of being chosen.

Random selection is widely used in statistics (sampling), games (draws and raffles), and everyday decision-making when no single option is clearly better than another.
