What is a mirror effect?
A mirror effect copies one half of an image onto the other half, flipped, so the picture becomes perfectly symmetrical. Portraits turn into uncanny, perfectly even faces, and landscapes get a reflection in a lake that isn't there. It differs from a flip: a flip mirrors the whole image, while the mirror effect keeps one half and reflects it.
Tool description
Open an image and the tool mirrors its left half onto the right. Choose another mode to mirror the right half onto the left, the top onto the bottom, or the bottom onto the top. "Four-way" mirrors the top left quarter into all four corners for a kaleidoscope look. Compare the result with the original using the slider, then download it as PNG, JPG, or WebP.
Features
- Five modes: left, right, top, bottom, and all four quarters
- Exact pixel copies around the center line
- Before and after comparison
- Runs in your browser, so your images are never uploaded
Tips
- The effect mirrors around the exact middle of the image. Crop the photo first so the line you want to mirror along sits in the center.
- "Top onto bottom" on a photo with the horizon in the middle makes a calm lake reflection.
- Try "Four-way" on flowers, leaves, and textures to make symmetrical tiles and ornaments.
