What is a dummy Word document?
A dummy Word document is a .docx file full of placeholder text. It's useful for testing document uploads, previews, converters and search, or for checking how a system handles long documents, without writing pages of text yourself.
Tool description
This tool builds a DOCX file in your browser, ready to open in Word. Set the document title, the number of pages (up to 200), paragraphs per page (up to 30) and sentences per paragraph (up to 20). Choose the font (Calibri, Arial, Times New Roman or Georgia), a font size from 6 to 36 pt, A4 or Letter paper, and portrait or landscape.
Each page can start with a numbered heading, and you can add a sample table with item, description, quantity and price columns after the first paragraph. The title, headings and table use the standard Word styles Title, Heading 1 and Table Grid, so you can restyle them in Word like in any other document.
The preview shows the first three pages, with the page count, word count and file size. Regenerate makes new text.
Examples
- A one page document to test an upload form
- 200 pages to see how a previewer or converter handles a long file
- A landscape Letter document in Times New Roman for a print check
Features
- 1 to 200 pages of lorem ipsum, with optional headings and a table
- Four fonts, sizes from 6 to 36 pt, A4 or Letter, portrait or landscape
- Standard Word styles and a live preview
Limitations
Each page ends with a page break. If a page has more text than fits, Word moves the rest onto a new page, so the document can end up with more pages than you set.
