Finding a movie you can't name

You remember the scene, the twist, maybe the actor's face, but not the title. Search engines want keywords, and a fuzzy memory like "a guy keeps living the same day" doesn't always match them. A friend who has seen a lot of films would get it from the description alone. This tool tries to be that friend.

Tool description

Write what you remember in Describe the movie: the plot, a scene, the characters, how it looked. If you know more, fill in Country, Year (a rough era like "1990s" or "around 2005" works) or Actor or director. Set Type to Movie or series, Movie or TV series, and pick a Genre or leave it on Any. Then click Find movie.

Possible matches lists up to 5 real titles, the most likely first. Each one gives the original title (and the English title if it's different), the release year, country and director, followed by a sentence or two on which parts of your description it matches. The details you add count as strong hints, but a close match still shows up if one of them is a bit off, since memory isn't perfect. When nothing fits well, you get fewer titles and a note on how sure the AI is.

Example

For "A man wakes up every day on the same morning, a groundhog is involved, and he slowly becomes a better person" with Bill Murray as the actor, the top match should be Groundhog Day (1993), directed by Harold Ramis.

Features

  • Finds movies and TV series from a plot or scene description
  • Optional country, year, actor, type and genre to narrow the search
  • Up to 5 matches, each with year, country, director and why it fits

Limitations

AI can mix up titles or details, especially for obscure films, so look a title up before you go hunting for it.
