What is JSON Resume?
JSON Resume is an open standard for writing your resume as data instead of a designed document. You keep everything in one resume.json file: basics for your name, title, contact details and profiles, then sections such as work, education, skills, projects and languages. Themes, site builders and other tools read the same format, so you write your resume once and turn it into a web page or PDF later.
Because it's plain JSON, a small mistake is easy to miss. A date like "June 2014" or a link without https:// breaks the format, and a theme may then leave that part out or fail to render at all.
Tool description
Paste your resume.json or upload the file. The preview shows it as a resume:
- Your photo, name, title and summary, with email, phone, website, location and profiles as links
- Work experience, projects, education and volunteering with dates, descriptions and highlights
- Skills, languages and interests as tiles with their levels and keywords
- Certificates, awards, publications and references
The tool also checks the file against the official JSON Resume schema and lists every problem with where it is, such as work[0].startDate: values of the wrong type, invalid email addresses, links that don't start with https:// or http://, and dates in the wrong format. A resume with problems still shows as much as it can, and while you type, the last version that parsed stays on screen.
Press Try example to load the sample resume from the JSON Resume project. Your resume is read in your browser and never uploaded.
