Why would you need a solid color page?
A solid color page is a sheet of paper printed entirely in a single, uniform color. While it sounds simple, solid color pages have surprisingly many practical uses. Artists and crafters use them as backgrounds for scrapbooking, origami, or collage work. Teachers print colored sheets for classroom activities, visual aids, or color-coding materials. Photographers and designers rely on solid color backdrops for product shots, color calibration, or testing how printed colors compare to their on-screen counterparts.
Printing a full-page solid color can also help diagnose printer issues — uneven coverage, streaks, or banding become immediately visible on a uniformly filled page. It's a quick way to check whether your printer's ink or toner distribution is consistent across the entire printable area.
Tool description
This tool generates printable solid color pages in any color you choose. Select your desired color using the color picker, configure paper size and orientation, set how many pages you need, and either print directly from your browser or download the result as an HTML file. The generated pages use precise CSS print styles to ensure edge-to-edge color coverage with no margins.
Examples
- Printer test page: Pick a bright cyan (#00FFFF) on A4 portrait to check for ink coverage uniformity.
- Craft background: Generate 3 pages of deep red (#8B0000) on Letter size for a scrapbooking project.
- Color swatch: Print a single A5 landscape page in your brand color (#1DA1F2) for visual comparison against on-screen rendering.
Features
- Any color: Pick from the full RGB spectrum using the built-in color picker
- Multiple paper sizes: Supports A3, A4, A5, Letter, and Legal formats
- Orientation control: Switch between portrait and landscape layouts
- Batch pages: Generate up to 50 identical color pages at once
- Margin-free printing: Uses CSS
@pagerules with zero margins for true edge-to-edge color fill
Use cases
- Printer diagnostics: Print a solid color page to detect banding, streaks, or uneven ink/toner distribution across the page
- Arts and crafts: Generate colored sheets for origami, scrapbooking, paper crafts, or classroom activities without needing colored paper stock
- Design and photography: Create solid color backdrops for product photography or print physical color swatches to verify color accuracy between screen and paper
Options explained
- Color: Opens a color picker to select any color from the full RGB spectrum. You can also type a hex code directly.
- Page Size: Choose from standard paper sizes — A3, A4, A5, US Letter, or US Legal. This controls both the on-screen preview aspect ratio and the CSS print size.
- Orientation: Toggle between Portrait (tall) and Landscape (wide) layout.
- Page Count: Set how many identical color pages to generate, from 1 to 50. Each page gets its own print page break.
Tips
- For best results, set your browser's print dialog to "No margins" or "Minimum margins" and disable headers/footers to achieve true edge-to-edge color.
- Enable "Background graphics" in your browser's print settings — some browsers disable background colors by default when printing.
- Download the HTML file if you want to reuse or share the color page without regenerating it.
