Tool description

This tool changes the settings of a RadiaCode radiation detector from your browser over Bluetooth, without the phone app. It reads the current settings when you connect, lets you edit them, and shows a list of your changes next to the values on the device before you write anything.

You can set the menu language, sound and vibration, display brightness, how long the display stays on and its orientation. You can choose sieverts or roentgens for dose, and counts per second or per minute for count rate. You can also set the level 1 and level 2 alarm thresholds for dose rate, accumulated dose and count rate, and choose which events beep or vibrate. A separate button resets the accumulated dose to zero.

Features

  • Language, sound, vibration, brightness, display timeout and orientation
  • Dose units (µSv/h or µR/h) and count rate units (cps or cpm)
  • Level 1 and level 2 thresholds for dose rate, dose and count rate
  • Choice of events that beep or vibrate, including particle clicks
  • A list of pending changes with old and new values
  • Only changed settings are written, in one request
  • The raw register values, for troubleshooting
  • Reset of the accumulated dose

How it works

The settings live in registers on the device. When you connect, the tool reads them all in one request. When you click Write to device, it sends only the registers you changed, then reads them again so the page shows what the device now holds.

The device stores alarm thresholds in fixed units: µR/h for dose rate, µR for dose and counts per 10 seconds for count rate. The tool shows them in the units you pick. Switching units changes how the thresholds are shown, not their value.

Tips

  • Check the Changes tab before writing. Discard changes puts every field back to the value on the device.
  • Resetting the accumulated dose cannot be undone.
  • Count rate thresholds are stored as whole counts per 10 seconds, so a value in cpm is rounded to a multiple of 6.
  • A RadiaCode accepts one Bluetooth connection at a time. Disconnect the phone app before connecting here.
  • Web Bluetooth works in Chrome, Edge and Opera. Firefox and Safari do not support it.
