What does a payslip show?
A payslip, or pay stub in the US, is the statement an employee gets with each payment. It shows the pay period, the gross pay, each deduction such as income tax, social security or a pension, and the net pay that reaches the bank account. Many also keep year to date totals. What a payslip must include, and how much tax is withheld, depends on the country, so take the figures from your payroll records or your accountant.
Tool description
This tool lays out a payslip and turns it into a PDF. It doesn't work out tax for you: you type each deduction as an amount.
Set the pay period, pay date and payment method. The dates start on the current month, paid on its last day. Add the employer with its logo, then the employee's name, ID, job title, department and address.
Each earning has a description, hours or units, a rate, and an optional year to date amount. With hours filled in, the amount is hours times rate. Leave hours empty and the rate is a fixed amount, which suits a monthly salary. A deduction is a description, an amount and an optional year to date amount.
Net pay is gross pay minus the total deductions, with each line rounded to the currency's smallest unit first. Once any line has a year to date amount, the PDF gets a "Year to date" column with its own totals.
Pick the currency, accent color, and A4 or Letter paper. The payslip is made in your browser, and the form is saved there for next month.
Example
A basic salary of 3,000 with no hours, plus 7.5 hours of overtime at 22.40, gives a gross pay of 3,168. Income tax of 412.35 and a pension of 150 make 562.35 in deductions, so the net pay is 2,605.65.
