What does cropping an image do?
Cropping cuts away the edges of a picture and keeps the part inside a rectangle. It removes distractions, straightens the focus on the subject, and fits a photo into the shape a platform wants, like a square post, a 16:9 thumbnail, or a 4:5 portrait for social feeds. The kept pixels stay exactly as they were, so a crop never blurs the photo.
Tool description
Open an image and drag the crop box: pull a corner or an edge to resize it, drag inside it to move it, or drag outside it to draw a new one. Pick an aspect ratio to lock its shape, from square to 16:9 and 9:16, or keep it free. The crop size field shows the exact size in pixels, and the arrow keys nudge the box by one pixel, or ten with Shift. Download the cropped image as JPG, PNG, or WebP.
