What is an IATA airport code?
IATA airport codes are the 3-letter identifiers used in passenger-facing aviation systems. You see them on boarding passes, baggage tags, booking forms, and flight search results.
Unlike full airport names, IATA codes are compact and standardized, which makes them useful for quick lookups and data validation.
Tool description
This tool validates a 3-letter IATA code and resolves the matching airport details from the bundled airport dataset. It shows the airport name, ICAO code, and country code when a match exists.
It is useful when you need to confirm that an airport code is valid or map it back to a readable airport entry.
Examples
LHRJFKCDG
Features
- Automatic uppercase normalization
- Exact-length validation for 3-letter input
- Parsed output with airport name, ICAO code, and country code
Limitations
The tool returns the first matching airport from the dataset. If multiple records share a code, only the first match is shown.
Results depend on the bundled airport data, so coverage follows that source.
