How to Add a Watermark to a Photo

To add a watermark to a photo, open the image watermark adder and choose the photo. Type your name or a copyright line in the "Watermark Text" field. Pick a place under Position, then click Download. The photo is processed in your browser and is never uploaded.

How to watermark the photo

1. Click "Browse file" or drop the photo on the box. JPEG, PNG, WebP, GIF and BMP files work.
2. Replace the word WATERMARK with your own text.
3. Choose a place under Position. The default is Bottom Right.
4. Check the preview on the right. It updates a moment after each change.
5. Pick the Output Format and click Download.

The file is saved with -watermarked added to its name, for example gozo-citadel-watermarked.png. It has the same width and height as the original photo.

How to make the text easy to read

The text is white with a thin black outline by default. The outline keeps it readable on light and dark parts of the photo. You can change both colors with "Text Color" and "Stroke Color".

On a busy photo, turn on "Enable Background". A solid box is drawn behind the text, black by default. Choose another color with "Background Color".

The text size follows the width of the photo, and there is no size setting. Keep the text to one short line. A long line can run past the edge of the photo.

Which format to choose

• PNG is the default. It keeps every detail, but the file is large.
• JPEG makes a smaller file for email and the web.
• WebP also makes a small file.

The photo above was a JPEG of 889 kB. Saved as PNG, it became 4 MB. The Quality slider works for JPEG and WebP. It goes from 1 to 100 and starts at 100.

Before you download

• Check the preview. The download has the same text, colors and place.
• Watermark one photo at a time. Choose the next photo after the first download.
• The text is solid. There is no setting to make it see through.

Choose the photo, type your name, and download the watermarked copy.
