What are MP3 tags?
MP3 tags (ID3 tags) are the metadata embedded in an MP3 file: title, artist, album, genre, track number, and even embedded cover art. They're what let a music player show "Artist - Song" instead of a raw filename, and what lets it group tracks into albums and sort them by genre or year.
Downloaded or ripped MP3s often have missing, wrong, or inconsistent tags, which makes a music library messy and hard to browse.
Tool description
This tool reads and edits ID3 tags on an MP3 file directly in your browser. Upload a file to see its existing tags, including title, artist, album, album artist, year, genre, track and disc number, composer, comment, and cover art. Edit any field, replace the cover image, and save a new copy of the file with updated tags, all without uploading the audio anywhere.
Features
- Runs entirely in the browser - the audio file never leaves your device
- Edits both common tags (title, artist, album) and extended ID3v2 fields (BPM, ISRC, publisher, composer, and more)
- Reads, replaces, or removes embedded cover art
Tips
- Playing the file in the built in preview lets you confirm you picked the right track before editing its tags.
- Clearing a field and saving removes that tag from the file entirely, rather than leaving an empty value.
