The X and D switch
The Logitech F310, F510 and F710 have a small switch marked X and D. X is XInput, the Xbox 360 mode most PC games expect. D is DirectInput, an older mode for older games. Browsers know the X layout, so set the switch to X before you test. In D mode the tester tells you it doesn't know the layout and numbers the buttons and axes the way the browser reports them.
Tool description
This tester shows what your Logitech gamepad sends to the browser. The F310 and F510 plug in with their USB cable, and the F710 uses its wireless USB receiver. Press any button once it's connected, since browsers only show a controller once one of its buttons is pressed.
The picture lights up A, B, X, Y, LB, RB, Back, Start and the Logitech button as you press them, fills LT and RT as far as you pull them and moves the sticks. LS and RS are the stick presses. Under it, each button has a tile with how far it's pressed, and both sticks show their exact X and Y position from -1 to 1.
The Mode button swaps the D-pad and the left stick, and its light shows when they're swapped. If the D-pad moves a stick in the picture, press Mode. Test vibration rumbles the F510 and F710 for one second, if your browser can make them vibrate. The F310 has no motors.
Checking the sticks
Let go of both sticks. A healthy stick rests close to zero, like 0.0039. A value that stays around 0.1 or more, or changes on its own, means the stick drifts.
