What is a screen flashlight?

A screen flashlight turns your phone, tablet or laptop display into a soft light by filling it with plain white. It's handy when your phone's camera flash isn't an option, for example on a laptop, on a tablet without a flash, or when you want a wider, gentler light for reading a menu, finding something in a bag or lighting your face on a video call.

Tool description

Tap the block and the whole page goes white in full screen. While the light is on, the tool asks your browser to keep the screen awake so it doesn't dim or lock. Tap anywhere or press Esc to turn it off and get back to the page.

The light is only as bright as your screen, so turn your screen brightness up for the brightest result. Some browsers, like Safari on iPhone, don't allow full screen for web pages; the page still turns white, but the browser bars may stay visible.
