What is decorative text?

Decorative text is ordinary text surrounded by symbols, such as ★彡 text 彡★, ꧁ text ꧂, or ➶➶➶ text ➷➷➷. The symbols come from Unicode blocks for arrows, dingbats, geometric shapes, and East Asian brackets, so they can be pasted anywhere text goes. People use them to make nicknames, profile bios, headings, and posts stand out.

How it works

Each decoration is a set of symbols placed before and after the text, between its letters, or around every letter. Letter decorations work on user-perceived characters, so an emoji with a skin tone or a letter with an accent counts as one letter. Spaces between words are kept as they are, and each non-empty line gets its own decoration.

Tips

  • Some symbols, such as ꧁ and ꧂, are missing from older fonts and may show as empty boxes. Check how the result looks on the app and device where you will use it.
  • Screen readers read the symbols aloud or skip them, so keep usernames and important text easy to read.
