Common Estonian mistakes
Estonian is mostly written as it sounds, but the length of a sound matters: one letter or two makes another word, like lina (linen) and linna (of the town). A comma comes before every subordinate clause, with et, kui, mis or kus, and before aga. Compound words are written as one (jalgpallimäng), and days, months and language names start with a small letter: esmaspäeval, eesti keel.
Tool description
Type or paste up to 5,000 characters of Estonian text and click Check grammar. The AI marks each mistake right in the text, red for spelling, grammar and punctuation and yellow for style. Under Mistakes, each one has its fix and a short explanation in the language of the page.
Click a mark to find it in the list, or a row of the list to find it in the text. The check button puts the fix in your text, the cross dismisses it, and Apply all fixes everything that's left. You can keep editing: the marks stay on their words, and a mark goes away when you change its word. If the text is in another language, the tool says so and links to the checker for it.
Features
- Mistakes marked in your text, each with a fix and a reason
- Fixes applied one by one or all at once
- Explanations in the language of the page
Limitations
AI can miss a mistake or flag a correct word, so read each fix before you apply it. A text with many mistakes may need a second check after the first fixes.
