Wayback Machine Snapshot Checker MCP tool
Find when the Wayback Machine first and last archived any web page, with links to open both snapshots.
Tool
wayback_machine_snapshot_checkerFinds the first and the latest snapshot of a URL in the Internet Archive's Wayback Machine, with its official CDX Server API (web.archive.org/cdx/search/cdx), which needs no key; the URL itself is never contacted. url is a URL or domain on a public host (https:// is assumed without a scheme); the archive matches the exact page, treating http and https, a leading www. and a default port as the same, so example.com looks up the home page, not the whole site. Returns url (as looked up), archived (whether the Wayback Machine has any snapshot of it), calendarUrl (the Wayback Machine's calendar of every snapshot) and firstSnapshot and lastSnapshot (null when not archived), each with timestamp (ISO 8601 UTC), originalUrl (the URL as it was captured), statusCode (the HTTP status it was captured with, such as 200 or 301; null when the archive doesn't say) and archiveUrl (where the snapshot can be viewed). The first snapshot shows roughly how long a site or page has existed. Fails when the Wayback Machine's rate limit for this server is used up, or when it can't be reached, answers with an error or doesn't answer in time.
