What are geographic coordinates?

Geographic coordinates are a pair of numbers that pinpoint any location on Earth's surface. Latitude measures position north or south of the equator, ranging from −90° (South Pole) to +90° (North Pole). Longitude measures position east or west of the prime meridian, ranging from −180° to +180°. Together, a latitude/longitude pair — such as 48.8566, 2.3522 for Paris — uniquely identifies a place on the globe.

Coordinates are used extensively in GPS navigation, mapping applications, scientific data, and location-based services. Different map providers accept coordinates in slightly different URL formats, which is why copying a coordinate pair from one app and opening it in another can require manual reformatting.

Tool description

This tool takes a latitude and longitude coordinate pair and generates direct links to open that location in multiple popular map providers simultaneously. Instead of reformatting coordinates for each service manually, paste them once and open the location in any map application with a single click.

Features

  • Seven map providers: Generates links for Google Maps, Bing Maps, Yandex Maps, Apple Maps, OpenStreetMap, HERE Maps, and Waze
  • Flexible input: Enter coordinates as two separate fields (latitude and longitude) or as a single combined string like 48.8566, 2.3522
  • Zoom level control: Set the zoom level (1–21) applied to all generated map links
  • Provider filter: Search and filter the list of providers to find the one you need quickly
  • Instant validation: Coordinates are validated in real time — latitude must be between −90 and 90, longitude between −180 and 180

Supported map providers

Provider Notes
Google Maps Most widely used; supports all zoom levels
Bing Maps Microsoft Maps with satellite and road views
Yandex Maps Popular in Russia and Eastern Europe
Apple Maps Opens in the Apple Maps web viewer
OpenStreetMap Free and open-source map data
HERE Maps Widely used for automotive and logistics
Waze Community-based navigation with traffic data

Tips

  • Use the single input tab to quickly paste a coordinate pair copied from another application, such as 51.5074, -0.1278.
  • Zoom level 15 is a good default for street-level detail; use lower values (e.g., 8–10) to see a broader regional view.
  • If Apple Maps shows the web viewer instead of opening the native app on mobile, try tapping the link from Safari on an iPhone or iPad.
